5 International Open Calls for Artists to Apply in July

Artists working in the art field benefit extensively from open calls since they may use them as a springboard to spark their creativity and set goals and deadlines for their work.

In addition, they provide artists with opportunities for increased visibility and involvement, as well as the potential for obtaining awards such as publications, exhibitions, and other forms of acknowledgement, an internship, prize money, and other benefits if their work is selected.

That is why we’ve chosen to inform our artist community about the upcoming international art calls you can apply for in July. Below you’ll find a list of five different international open calls for art.

So keep on reading to learn about it all.

Armen Avanessian, an Austrian philosopher, says that “The basic thesis of the post-contemporary is that time is changing. We are not just living in a new time or accelerated time, but time itself—the direction of time—has changed. We no longer have a linear time, in the sense of the past being followed by the present and then the future. It’s rather the other way around: the future happens before the present, time arrives from the future.”
In this new era, time is fluid, and there is no obvious progression from a before, to a during and an after in historical terms. The fluidity of time indicates the blurring of boundaries, escaping categorizations, and not being concretely defined. In such a time how does an artist imagine the future? How to view histories? How to create unexpected narratives and connections to tell untold stories? How to even use time as an artistic medium to interpret the life we experience?

Kindness: Unexpected, Unusual, Unfailing

Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church

Kindness has been explored, expressed, and experienced throughout the ages by people from all walks of life. What kindnesses have you bestowed, received, or witnessed? How has kindness changed the course of history? Or the course of an afternoon? Does kindness necessarily involve human beings?
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” ~ Aesop
“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention.” ~ Kahlil Gibran
“Spread love wherever you go. Let no one come to you without leaving happier.” ~ Mother Theresa
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good that overwhelm the world.” ~ Archbishop Desmond Tutu

This exhibit seeks to represent a broad and creative set of interpretations on the subject of kindness.

Entries for the juried exhibit, will be accepted until July 30, 2022.
